Astrid Starsign

Astrid's birth has always been shrouded in mystery, but rumors speak of her celestial origins. She was not always the leading figure of the valkyries, that is an honour she achieved through her bravery and leadership. Her story begins in her home village, residing in a valley far from conflict and war that which plagued the world of Nir all throughout, until the inevitable day that war brought its vicious claws to it. The village didn't have an abundance of warriors, so conflict was an ill-advised option for them, therefore the warlords were able to take over with ease and force them into labor to facilitate their war efforts. As the weeks went by, rebellion often crossed their mind, but their low morale and combat expertise always leveled their hopes.

Astrid was among the working regime, and watched as her people lost their strength and their will, but in her heart grew an ember of courage that would only inspire. She kept her spirits high and never gave up, making tremendous efforts to bring her people close in a time of need. She reminded them that liberty was not a commodity, but a right that which they would have to fight tooth and nail for. Her words swiped away any thoughts of doubt in their minds, and promptly began preparations to fashion tools and weaponry to form a rebellion. The warlords had not invested many troops into the village, as the odds of retaliation were next to none, and soon lost control of it.

Astrid's rally ensured the total takeover of the village with minimal losses. However they would now have to prepare for the inevitable attack, but their hearts already bled once, and they were ready to stand up and thrive against the impossible odds. They formed the toughest militia and waited day and night for the enemy's arrival. It was not long before both sides would clash across the valley. Astrid brandished an old spear, said her prayers, and was first to lead the militia forces against their own fate. No records remain of the battle on how the villages turned the tide against the warlords, or how Astrid's talents in combat and leadership tipped the balance, but rumors of divine intervention were widespread... and for good reason. Her heroic stand has granted her a place amongst the valkyries as the wisest that would watch over them all and uphold the code of honour.
